Nominum is seeking a technical writer for an immediate full-time staff position in Redwood City, California.
Our documentation team is on the brink of implementing a new publishing paradigm that shifts from a monolithic PDF documentation approach to add online dynamic content that will better enable our customers to discover the information they need quickly and easily. We're looking for a bright, savvy person who is comfortable with technology, tools AND text!
Nominum features a collaborative environment where the writer is part of the engineering team. Candidates who enjoy partnering with engineers, asking questions, and ferreting out information will do well. We enjoy an extremely lively and dynamic environment with competing priorities, where the writer operates with a high degree of autonomy to get the job done right.
Experience writing clear technical documentation about Internet software applications and platforms.
Experience with Madcap Flare to create documentation and publish it in a variety of formats.
Experience with writing documents using Framemaker.
Comfortable installing software in a UNIX environment and with using a command line interface when necessary.
Able to work comfortably with minimum guidance in both Windows/Mac and UNIX environments doing a variety of online tasks.
Able to work collaboratively, be comfortable asking questions, interact cooperatively with a variety of people, work to deadline, be comfortable prompting other folks for needed input, and know when to escalate issues appropriately.
Experience with using graphics design software to create high-quality diagrams and graphic representations of abstract concepts.
Understanding of the HTTP protocol and HTTP rest APIs, as well as familiarity with DNS and DHCP protocols.
Experience with version control applications, particularly CVS or Subversion.
