House Supervisor Part-time and PRN Centerre Healthcare
Are you looking for an exciting and challenging opportunity? Join the team of a brand new freestanding Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital.
7pm - 7am or 7am - 7pm, one shift per week or minimum of one shift per pay period.
The House Supervisor (HS) functions under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) and assumes responsibility for the Nursing Department. The HS in collaboration with the DON and leadership team assists to implement, interpret and assure compliance with policies and procedures including regulatory and accreditation standards. The HS directly supervises the nurses. The HS is responsible for implementing hospital goals and objectives based on budget parameters. The HS reinforces the mission and vision of the hospital in all interactions.
Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of patient care. 1.1 Makes daily rounds in area of responsibility. 1.2 Assess complex patient situations at the staff nurses request. 1.3 Responds to emergency situations within 5 minutes. 1.4 Monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of patient care assignements on each quad daily.
Coordinates Staffing. 2.1 Assesses staffing patern and projects needs for oncoming shifts daily. 2.2 Assigns staff according to patient needs and nurses skills. 2.3 Recruits staff as needed and dcouemnts schedule changes accurately I the computer and on a daily basis. Documents variances in staffing after each shift.
Support the staff nurse with procedures requiring expertise. 3.1 Start difficult IV?s at the staff nurse request. 3.2 Assist the staff nurse with unfamiliar prcedures. 3.3 Assist the staff nurse with unfamiliar equipment.
Particpate in organizational activities 4.1 renews CPR certification every 2 years. 4.2 Obtain ACLS within 24 months of hire and keep current.
Assess educational needs of the nursing staff. 5.1 Provide feedback to educational resources or managers of identified needs. 5.2 Make resource material available to staff. 5.3 Teach or assist in providing inservices or competency evaluations annually.
Demonstrate effective and accurate verbal and written communication. 6.1 give and receive a thorough verbal or written report about each shift to the oncoming responsible supervisory staff. 6.2 Assess the need and facilitate the proper ue of incident and problem reports within 24 hours of incident. 6.3 Route specific information to appropriate person
Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care. Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviros of the rehab patient. 7.1 Completes employee performance audits at the DON?s request. 7.2 Reviews the charts fo patients. 7.3 Conducts discussions with nurse of patients test and prcedures to encourage awarenss of clinical status. Provides direction to nursing staff regarding call the physician after hours. 7.4 Evaluates and verifys as necessary the accuracy of nurses assessment skills. 7.5 Demonstrates ability to provide care based upon physical, psycho/social, cultural, safety and other age related factors. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.
Represents Administration in their absence. 8.1 Appropriately notify AOC as needed. 8.2 Clearly communicate pertinent information to administrator on call. 8.3 Directs media inquairies to the appropriate person.8.4 Handle dealth procedure appropriately, including notification of funeral home as soon as patient is pronounced 100% of the time. 8.5 Provide managerial support to other departments as needed.
Responsible for providing professional working conditions for employees.
Manages costs associated with personnel, equipment and supplies.
Maintains staffing plans, management of nursing hours per patient day, and quality of work of the nursing staff.
Assures compliance with nursing scope of practice and HIPAA.
Promotes rehabilitation nursing philosophy and practice; encourages staff development, including acquisition of CRRN for qualified registered nurses.
Assists DON with activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and performance evaluations of staff in the nursing department.
Assures education and training is provided to nursing staff on Functional Independent Measure (FIM); assures timely and accurate FIM assessments and scoring are performed.
Assures nursing attendance and participation in team conferences.

Assures departments adhere to dress code, appearances are neat and clean, and proper identification is worn at all times.
Assures completion of annual education requirements and performance evaluations.
Ensures departments comply with patient confidentiality at all times.
Maintains, and assures that staff maintains, good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
Assures representation of the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Assures leadership and/or staff attendance at committee meetings, CQPI and management meetings, as appropriate.
Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.
Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital.
Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state. Bachelor?s degree preferred.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 18 months of hire and keep current.
Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) preferred
Minimum of two years of previous nursing management required
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.
