We currently have an opening for an HR Business Partner in our Boston office. This role will be primary HR Generalist for Twitter Boston. In this role, you?ll be a sole practitioner of HR, working with the local managers, employees, and Recruiting team to address pain points and opportunities across the office. This will require you to roll-up your sleeves, but also have you thinking strategically about complex people topics that need savvy approaches. You?ll partner closely with your HR colleagues outside of Boston to understand what already exists for you to leverage and what you can create based on the local needs in Boston.
Success in this role looks like this: You will have successfully established a strategic HR presence on your own (with help from HR peers in NY & San Francisco) in the Boston office. You will have been instinctive enough to jump on issues & opportunities when you see them, scrappy enough to get operational items resolved, and savvy enough to work with all levels in a matrixed environment. You will have helped to elevate management capacity; In doing this, you will have worked closely with local management & staff to truly understand needs and perspectives. You will have built strong, respectful relationships. You will have helped elevate Twitter?s employment brand and unique local culture in Boston. You may have started your Twitter experience mastering the basics operationally, but you will have increasingly found ways to operate strategically while reducing operational pain by working smarter - in particular, through the strong relationships you?ve built.
You will have overcome obstacles, with minimal supervision, to bring influential staff onboard to your plans. In doing so, you will have demonstrated assertiveness, understanding, fortitude, flexibility, and the ability to be both operational and strategic. Piece of cake, right?
Meet regularly & proactively with Boston staff (in concert with your functional HR peers) and provide HR guidance to them on topics such as: organizational change, flight risk management, compliance with local employment law, HR operations, engagement, development, culture, performance, etc. Be the go-to individual in Boston to get people questions & problems resolved.
Work with local & SF Recruiting to understand hiring plans. Partner with Recruiting on Boston employment brand efforts.
Project manage and build out the local onboarding & learning plans. Demonstrate passion for the new hire experience - play a vital role in making the new hire experience a seamless and great experience. Partner closely with all the key stakeholders (eg. local Office Managers, Leadership, OEL, etc.) in doing so.
Work with SF HRBP?s, Internal Communications and local Office Managers to ensure informative & engaging Local Tea Times. Identify communication gaps & drive solutions to these gaps in concert with Internal Communications.
Educate and train local managers and employees on the performance management process and the goals of employee development.
Advise employees & managers on best practices relative to talent management.
Partner effectively with local managers to ensure they scale, onboard, engage, and retain their staff successfully.
Partner with your worldwide HR colleagues to implement people programs & initiatives in the Boston office. Judge when its best to implement or leverage existing solutions vs. when a localized solution is needed.
Provide guidance and coaching to all employees on employee relations issues, feedback, career planning, mentoring, etc. Manage tough situations to

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build strong relationships with, and influence, a diverse swath of the organization (i.e. across function, level, location, etc.) & tailor communication based on the audience
Ability to multi-task, pitch in with other HR team members when they need help, and navigate through change - all the while staying focused to get critical items resolved
Self-motivated & assertive - ability to hunt down answers and drive solutions autonomously after having ramped up
Ability to drive & facilitate organizational change and talent development efforts
Ability to successfully manage conflicts
Strong relationship-building & team collaboration skills
Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing, rapid-growth, fun environment
Bachelors degree in a related field. Masters a plus
5-7 years of relevant HR experience as a Business Partner or HR Generalist
Basic knowledge of Massachusetts & U.S. employment laws and regulations
Experience in organizations that have undergone significant growth and/or change
Experience in Media or Technology preferred
Experience supporting matrixed & distributed organizations preferred
Experience working as a sole HR practitioner in an office is a plus
Experience in M&A and/or change management is a plus
Periodic travel to San Francisco
