The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) administers and implements HR and management programs in a manner that enhances the productivity and effectiveness of SciQuest employees, and promotes the corporate culture ensuring programs, policies and processes are implemented within the business in a manner consistent with the overall corporate practices. The primary focus of this position is recruiting, on-boarding, performance management, employee relations, off-boarding, and related administration.
The HRG is the only HR professional located in the Edmonton office and must collaborate closely with US-based HR colleagues to deliver HR services. The HRG must effectively balance business acumen and internal customer satisfaction/employee advocacy when making decisions and advising management. The HRG must deal professionally with highly confidential information and demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Canadian and Provincial Employment and Labour Standards.
Recruiting: Source, screen, interview and make offers to internal and external candidates for open positions. Develop and execute proactive recruiting strategies resulting in quality, timely and cost effective hiring. Evaluate candidates' strengths compared with position requirements as well as corporate culture fit. Conduct initial phone screens or in-person interviews as applicable. Coordinate interview schedules and feedback sessions with hiring managers. Make and finalize offers and other terms and conditions of employment with candidates. Demonstrate full competency using company-wide systems and processes, and provide coaching and training to hiring managers.
Onboarding: Coordinate and ensure completion of all new hire administration and processes in compliance with company standards, including background checks, reference checks, completion of new hire forms and administration, and other onboarding requirements. Develop and facilitate new hire orientation with new employees. Ensure hiring managers have effective on-boarding and training plans in place for new hires. Ensure new hires are trained on the company on-line performance management system. Ensure hiring managers and new hires establish performance objectives within the first 60-days. Coordinate and/or facilitate 90-day interviews and provides feedback to leadership. Communicate and administers benefit enrollment for new hires in a timely manner.
HR Programs and Communications: Assist with the development of HR programs and services. Coordinate the rollout and communication of a variety of HR and company programs within the Edmonton office.
Employee Relations: Assist in successful, professional resolution of moderately difficult employee problems, issues and questions. Advise and coach employees and managers on day-to-day employee relations issues. Oversee interactions between employees and management including but not limited to: employee hiring, employee terminations, disciplinary events and the development of severance packages where appropriate.
Performance Management: Oversee rollout and implementation, including training, of the company performance management process for objective setting, annual reviews and compensation planning. Demonstrate full competency on the online performance management system. Proactively engage with leadership to monitor employee performance and provides coaching and oversee the corporate performance management process to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of employee performance.
Compensation and Benefits Administration: Assist with administration of the benefits program for all employees. Communicate all benefits and changes to managers and employees. Ensure employees are knowledgeable of internal and external resources for benefit information and issue resolution.
HR Administration: Coordinate timely and accurate processing of employee information and changes in HR systems. Collect and analyze data and prepare HR reports as requested.
A minimum of 3-5 years generalist experience required. Bachelor?s degree in related field or HR certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of Canadian and Provincial Employment Labour Standards.
Ability to analyze moderately difficult and complex issues and to make recommendations for proper actions with a balance of business acumen and internal customer service/employee advocacy.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with extreme professionalism and discretion.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Will be self-directed, motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, and have excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills.
Strong intermediate to advanced knowledge of full Microsoft Package required.
3+ years of experience in Human Resource Information Systems preferred.
