HR Generalist/Payroll Administrator Northern Power Systems

Reporting to: Manager, Human Resources
Duties and Responsibilities
Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; updates and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
Compile and process bi-weekly payroll data. Administer HRIS/Payroll database including data entry and maintenance of garnishments, benefit time, insurance and 401(k) deductions.
Support benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
Assists in recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, interns, and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientation meetings; monitors career pathing program, writes and places job advertisements.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
Maintains Human Resource Information System/Payroll records and compiles reports from database.
Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Provide excellent internal customer service on all HR and Payroll related inquiries from NPS staff members.
Assist in planning and organizing staff activities and events.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Word and Excel. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Able to handle and maintain confidential information.
Education and Work Experience
AA/AS degree and three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources AND Payroll experience, OR any similar combination of education and experience.
Professional certification is a plus. Must have fluency in using and updating HRIS/Payroll database software.
