MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Code, review and process all personnel and payroll actions
Determine for accession actions, eligibility of the employee for federal civil service retirement plan coverage, social security coverage, life insurance and health program benefits.
Maintain electronic Official Personnel Folders (eOPF's) and the file room.
Compute service computation dates for leave, retirement, TSP, and Reduction-in-Force purposes on each new employee
Annotate personnel requests and use NFC to complete processing
Process HCUP packages in NFC on corrections
Provide tracking status reports on actions, errors, and any outstanding issues that need to be resolved with the personnel/payroll system
Monitor personnel/payroll reports to ensure no employee is paid inappropriately due to an error in processing actions and make corrections as necessary
Enter manual payment, payroll discrepancies, and bills into SPPS and track the disbursement
Complete and document selections of new hire positions
Review OPFs for completeness, if required and requested
Ready files for archive storage
Compute lump sum leave payments, back pay and comp time
Respond to employees questions regarding payroll/personnel issues
Assist HR Specialist as needed
A minimum of 3 years NFC experience coding and processing personnel & payroll actions using systems such as PeopleSoft in the federal government environment
Skill in the NFC payroll/personnel system
Skill in Microsoft Office Suite
Skill in PeopleSoft products such as HR Connect
Skill in oral and written communications to prepare and present information
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with others
Must be a U.S. Citizen
