The HR department consists of employee development, employee relations, training, payroll, benefits, talent acquisition/recruiting, and compensation. As a team, HR strives to advocate for employees, support leadership, know and maintain policies and procedures, and helps to foster communication. HR is committed to focusing on business initiatives while providing excellent service to employees and leadership.
About the Job
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on Human Resources related issues. He/she is responsible to assess and anticipate HR-related needs and proactively seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization by way of risk and legal compliance, employee relations, performance management, training, compensation, talent strategy and departmental organizational development.
Responsibilities
Consult with management providing HR guidance when appropriate.
Partner with management and HR team to develop solutions, policies and procedures as needed.
Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance in partnership with legal counsel.
Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management including coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions.
Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
Provide policy enforcement, guidance and interpretation.
Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
Provide timely information and/or education for all levels of the organization on critical/emerging HR issues having potential impact to the business operations.
Partner with recruiting and management for recruiting and onboarding programs.
Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs.
Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs.
Support and participate in the accountability review and performance management process.
Partner with HR team to provide quality support for organizational needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience
Working knowledge of general human resources disciplines including employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws, payroll and benefits, recruitment and organizational development.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build relationships across all organizational levels and functions. .
Able to take initiative to identify and anticipate business needs and make recommendations for implementation.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong conflict management skills.
Able to manage time and prioritize effectively.
Self directed and motivated.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
SPHR (-CA) or PHR (-CA) is desirable
Physical Requirements
This position will normally spend long periods of time in a sitting position (up to 80% of the work day). He/she may use a computer, which would involve repetitive finger, hand and wrist motion (up to 75% of the day) and require being able to see the computer screen (up to 80% of the day). Other physical exertion could involve walking, climbing stairs, lifting (up to 10lbs), stretching and bending.
