Human Tissues Laboratory Director Merrimack Pharmaceuticals
Merrimack Pharmaceuticals is currently developing several antibody-based therapeutics, as well as nanoliposomal drugs, in the area of oncology. As only a subset of patients are expected to benefit from any cancer therapeutic, Merrimack is strongly committed to co-developing companion diagnostics for each of these therapeutic agents. Merrimack uses their Network Biology platform to identify drug targets, design optimal therapeutics, and identify predictive companion diagnostics.
At this time, Merrimack is expanding their translational research efforts as they seek to test diagnostic hypotheses in their Phase II trials. Merrimack is establishing a Human Tissues Laboratory to receive, process, and review clinical samples collected from patients enrolled in their clinical trials and to prepare them for biomarker assays. Merrimack is seeking a highly qualified individual to establish and direct this laboratory and to contribute to the development of companion diagnostics.
Job responsibilities:
Managing personnel and procedures associated with receiving, tracking, processing, and reviewing clinical samples and preparing them for clinical assays
Establishing and maintaining compliance with GCLP regulations
Assessing and optimizing procedures to enable translational research across multiple therapeutic programs at Merrimack
Helping with strategic planning of clinical trials, as well as writing of lab manuals and translational protocols
Guiding teams in their development of companion diagnostics
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with managerial experience and strong knowledge of Pathology. The candidate must have experience in oncology and at least five years of experience in a Pathology or human tissues assay laboratory. The candidate must also be familiar with GCLP compliance.
We are seeking someone who values innovation; is passionate about improving the treatment paradigm of cancer patients; and desires the opportunity to play an integral role in an interdisciplinary team focused on the co-development of cancer therapeutics and companion diagnostics.
