Job Description
The ICD-10 Clinical Documentation Auditor/Consultant examines clinical documentation and determines the gaps and deficiencies in the documentation as it relates to its readiness for ICD-10.
Responsibilities:
Perform remote reviews of large numbers of medical records to determine opportunities for our client facilities to improve specificity and meet increased documentation requirements within ICD-10
Using reference materials and tools to ensure accuracy of review and recommendations provided
Generates reports providing logs highlighting findings of these audits, opportunities for improvement, and detailed commentary to the client
Develops written reports summarizing these findings and presenting these to clients
Create educational materials and content to assist in the improvement and education of our clients based on findings within the audits
Manage high-volume pace of audits both by paper and direct access
Work with fellow auditors and manager to handle multiple client projects and collaborate on findings and best practices
Share findings with the Education Development team to further enhance ICD-10 education offerings
Conducts follow up reviews of clinical documentation to ensure points clarified with the physician have been recorded in the patient?s record.
If applicable, conduct client education sessions or on-site sessions to review findings
Requirements
RN, RHIA or RHIT, and/or CCS
Highly Preferred: ICD-10 Certified
Associate?s Degree in a relevant field preferred or combination of equivalent education and experience
Clinical Documentation and/or Inpatient coding experience with report writing expertise
Knowledge of the medical record, ICD-10 principles and documentation requirements
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently
Computer knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Adobe, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
Must display excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to write reports independent of management review
