Sympoz/Craftsy, was founded in May 2010 by an experienced executive team from eBay, Yahoo!, and ServiceMagic. The leadership is strong, and supports every employee in building and moving the company forward each day. We learn on the fly, and respond quickly to user feedback and ideas. The office is fast-paced and fluid, with the long hours start-ups are known for. But we like to have fun, too: like any good start-up, there are video games, rock concerts, paintball, and bottomless snacks.
Job Description:
We need a creative, organized and versatile mind to join our team to work with instructors to prepare their content for filming, then direct their work on set. The successful candidate will:
-Offer clear and useful structures for translating educational content from a live classroom environment to video
-Apply a variety of pedagogical techniques to course outlines and other deliverables from instructors
-Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about craft content
-Demonstrate excellent diplomacy and attention to detail
-Exhibit strong communication and organizational skills
-Show a high tolerance for ambiguity, ability to improvise, and enthusiasm for developing new ways to present information
-Exhibit strong leadership and management skills
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must be able to research complex ideas and quickly assign hierarchies of information. Excellent judgment in working with diverse talent, a can-do attitude, and creativity are a must. Familiarity with educational models, an understanding of the creative process, and experience producing content for video and directing talent are highly desirable. We welcome reliable, independent self-starters with a strong work ethic and a keen sense of humor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor?s degree
- 2 years teaching, instructional design, or curriculum development experience
- 1 year producing or directing experience, preferably in an educational environment
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Demonstrated ability to accommodate diverse personalities
- Crafts interest and experience a plus, particularly in one or more core content areas on Craftsy.com
- Willingness to work weekends and travel up to twice per month
- Strong vision/hearing skills
- Ability to lift 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time
