Description: The Instructional Specialist is responsible for creating a consistent implementation of Brightside Academy?s core curricula and state early learning standards for infant/toddlers, preschool and school-age programs. As a Brightside Academy Education Team member, the Instructional Specialist will conduct academy visits to analyze teaching practices, support academies and individual staff members to attain high quality instructional practices, and provide professional development support based on staff, academy, area or regional area needs. The Instructional Specialist will have a specialty in using assessment results and instructional best practices to meet the needs of individual students in attaining quality educational outcomes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Serves as a Brightside Academy Education Team member and conduct regular academy visits.
Debriefs with staff, academy directors, area business directors, regional director and the director of education to analyze and support the instructional practices in academies as a participant in Brightside Academy?s quality excellence system (QES)
Plans and develops instructional strategy implementation to support student outcomes.
Develops, designs and delivers professional development on curriculum, instructional and assessment strategies.
Visits academies and provides support to improve instructional and assessment strategies.
Encourages a continuous exchange of ideas and maintains positive relationships with academy staff, academy directors, area business directors, regional director and external technical assistance providers.
Develops strategies which connect curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development to improve teaching and child outcomes.
Conducts needs assessments and other research necessary for completing professional development work.
Supports academy staff in delivering on-the spot, in-classroom instruction.
Provides demonstration lessons in classrooms to model best practices.
Supports staff and academy directors in the use of assessment results to deliver differentiated instruction.
Produces reports as requested and required.
Working knowledge of early childhood curriculum, instructional and assessment best practices and various state early learning standards (Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio).
Working knowledge of state quality improvement rating systems (QRIS).
Ability to formulate and carry out effective work plans.
Ability to facilitate the coordination of multiple tasks and manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
Ability to build effective working partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of strategies to engage adult learners.
Ability to foster team building and to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to lead productive meetings.
Ability to acquire state professional development certification (New York).
Master?s degree from an accredited college or university.
Three ? five years of full-time, paid, professional classroom experience.
Experience supporting staff in improving instructional practices.
This position includes the normal physical demands associated with work in an office environment including lifting, bending and carrying.
This position includes the ability to travel independently throughout the region and to other regions where Brightside Academy facilities are located.
This position includes the ability to schedule work outside of the typical week including nights and some weekends.
