The instructor?s primary responsibility is delivering online- and classroom-based training to Opscode?s customers. This role will work with Opscode?s product development, consulting, and support teams to understand the essential skills necessary for successfully utilizing Chef. The instructor will also assist in curriculum development. All training will utilize a mix of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on lab exercises. Students will have varying backgrounds, including software developers, system administrators, and IT management.
Delivers technical training, both online and in the classroom
Collaborates in the development of instructional materials that teach Chef skills and explain concepts such as infrastructure automation and continuous delivery
Develops lab exercises that reinforce the concepts and skills taught
Writes web content to assist students in self-study (e.g., learnchef.com)
Records screencasts and online demonstrations
Troubleshoots issues during courses ? student learning or technology issues, hypotheticals from students, and/or lab setup
Facilitates and manages class sessions, including follow-up responsibilities
Provides feedback from the field on courseware and product features to other members or divisions of Opscode.
Expertise in teaching others complex tasks and skills
Significant experience in training and/or technical documentation, experience in both live training and e-learning environments preferred
Demonstrably superb verbal communications skills, including a dynamic and engaging presentation style that inspires confidence
Experience as an application developer or system administrator
Understanding of configuration management tools and principles
Experience in dynamic / scripting programming languages and Infrastructure Automation tools
Ability to work directly with customers
Ability to work independently and deliver multiple overlapping projects on time
Willingness to travel is a must
Existing involvement in the Chef community is a bonus
Experience running production IT / web operations is a bonus
