Instructor Training Manager:
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. An Instructor Training Manager will:
Train university faculty in the course development process, objective-based design, LMS features, etc.
Build and maintain the Course Development Workshop courses, developing content-specific examples in the portal to be used during the face-to-face training sessions.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of materials for the Course Development Workshop, including the Faculty Workbook.
Train university faculty and facilitators in LMS use and best practices of course facilitation.
Build, maintain, monitor, and facilitate the Faculty Development Course (FDC) for APs that contract facilitation services. A FDC will be created for each LMS used by EC partners.
Build a library of Quick-Start reference guides for course facilitators on instructional best practices and LMS tool use. Topic will include, but are not limited to:
o using LMS gradebook
o grading with rubrics
o facilitating discussion boards
o monitoring wikis
o blogging
o resetting quizzes.
Work closely with the Education Specialists of Student Support Services and the Student Support Services teams to identify faculty support needs and proactively formulate solutions.
Train in-house Instructional Designers on LMS use, including how LMS features can be used to support course objectives.
Support the Instructional Design department by keeping abreast of technology innovations, researching effective means of using technology in the online classroom, and providing training sessions for the ID team.
Research and lead emerging technology initiatives for the Course Development department and works with Lead IDs to implement initiatives strategically across partner programs.
Thoroughly test and provide support documentation for 3rd-party tool use in courses.
Monitor the media database to select pieces that show innovation and/or highlight best practices and can be used in demonstrations to potential, new, and existing partners.
Help Lead Instructional Designers in the design, development, and maintenance of Student Orientation courses, confirming correlation with the Faculty Development Courses, ensuring consistency with other Student Orientation Courses, and providing efficiencies through the appropriate reuse of assets.
Attend Course Development Workshops as needed. (Limited travel may be required.)
Assist IDs and the Tech Services team in the solving of LMS issues affecting faculty and facilitators during live course runs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor?s degree in education, instructional design, curriculum, educational technology, project management, training and development, or a related degree
2+ years of teaching experience; online teaching experience is strongly preferred
1+ years in higher education
3+ years of instructional design and/or training experience, preferably for online environments (strongly preferred)
Advanced knowledge of educational technology, adult learning principles, constructivism, facilitation, and learner-centered activities
Extensive experience in learning management systems (LMSs) and knowledge of CSS and HTML
Comfortable working within project management applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exceptionally strong attention to detail
Ability to influence and lead peers, faculty, and external partners
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines
