Will be responsible for all technical aspects of client-based application implementation projects including technical process consulting, specification development, software configuration, systems integration, legacy system data migration, and installation within the client?s environment. Project responsibilities may range from one large, complex project to many smaller projects run simultaneously. May be responsible for providing work direction to other technical consultants on assigned projects. Clients are pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and universities. Responsible for design, documentation, and enhancement of assigned technical standards in support of Global Professional Services, Technical Services.
Responsibility for the successful technical implementation of configurable applications for client engagements (on time and on budget). May have overall responsibility for projects or may provide work direction to Solution Integration Consultants/Application Specialists.
As part of the project team, perform technical tasks within the project including solution specification development, software configuration, legacy system data migration, data verification, user acceptance test scripting, site installation, technical troubleshooting, user acceptance test support, equipment set up and install (bar code scanners & printers), interface and integration work.
Participate in solution workshops with clients for solution specification and business process analysis. Lead for technical process discussions and analysis.
Perform technical configurations, integrations, data migrations and technical installations for client projects. Includes analyzing and documenting requirements and rules and updating with enhancements or changes made in the field.
On occasion, manage programmers in development of project specific work products.
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the company?s software solutions, solution methodologies, and core technologies.
Develop and maintain assigned technical standards for use in client and internal projects.
Audit other technical services personnel?s work products for adherence to standards. Coach others for performance improvement.
Typical standards include PL/SQL scripts, XML and stored procedures, Oracle database instance creation and replication procedures, installation, configuration, and data migration standards.
Knowledge of Network and WiFi technologies and the setup of hardware on networks, such as printers, scanners and mobile devices
Develop and maintain knowledge of life sciences domain related to SciQuest?s products. These include laboratory supply procurement processes, laboratory chemical and substance inventory management and tracking, and knowledge of the scientific discovery process as it relates to these processes.
From time to time, as needed, the Sr. Technical Manager may be asked to manage a smaller client project engagement, where no project manager is assigned. In this capacity, the Sr. Technical Manager may be responsible for any of the following activities as determined by the applicable Statement of Work: Draft a project plan and review it with the client; track and manage SciQuest responsibilities within the project plan; communicate status of SciQuest responsibilities and escalate issues for attention as needed; participate in client status conferences; identify client requests that constitute scope changes and draft change orders as needed; Confirm achievement of milestones for client invoicing purposes; and facilitate transition to SciQuest Customer Support.
Minimum 5 years? experience in working with software applications in a client environment
In-depth knowledge in system analysis, procedure analysis, and problem resolution is required. Business automation and workflow process development is desirable.
In-depth knowledge in the elements required in implementing software applications within a client?s environment, including software configuration, data initialization, data migration, system integration/data interface, and equipment and application installation and set-up.
Oracle PL/SQL and/or Oracle Administration skills, as well as XML skills required.
Must be able to communicate technical solutions to customers and Sr. Management.
Strong communication, presentation, documentation and problem solving skills.
Ability to act independently, take initiative and drive tasks and issues to resolution
Previous experience managing others (direct or matrix) preferred.
Java development experience preferred.
Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology experience desirable.
