MBI is looking for an Intellectual Property Assistant/Paralegal to join our Legal team. In this role, the candidate will be providing support in patent, trademark, and other IP matters.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Managing all administrative aspects of the company?s international patent and trademark portfolios
Docketing patent and trademark deadlines and insuring that deadlines are met
Electronically filing patent and trademark applications and related documents with the USPTO and with the World Intellectual Property Organization through the International Bureau
Preparing templates for and electronically filing patent documents, such as responses to Office Actions and Information Disclosure Statements
Preparing and forwarding search reports to foreign associates for foreign patent prosecution
Corresponding with foreign associates regarding patent and trademark filings and searches
Organizing and creating databases of references cited to and by the patent office in US patent prosecution
Calculating patent term adjustments and preparing requests for recalculation
Proofreading patents and filing receipts for errors and requesting corrections when necessary
Conducting status inquiries to insure that patent and trademark prosecution progress timely
Organizing and maintaining patent and trademark files
Tracking bills and patent and trademark maintenance/annuity fees
Minimum three (3) year?s experience supporting patent attorneys, either in-house or at a firm
Experience in a biotechnology field a plus
Extensive experience electronically filing US and international patent applications and obtaining and filing supporting and related documents, including obtaining legalized documents from consulates and the USPTO, preparing transmittals, declarations, and assignment documents
High level of comfort using PAIR through the USPTO website
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; specifically, ability to communicate with foreign associates about patent and trademark matters with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational skills; ability to organize and maintain files and correspondence with minimal supervision
Good working knowledge of patent maintenance fee system
Ability to calculate patent term adjustments with minimal supervision.

The salary range is competitive.
