Who We Want:
Intellectual Property Counsel
As a Intellectual Property Counsel, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement Bazaarvoice?s strategy to protect, defend and capture the value of its patents and other intellectual property. Your tasks will be varied and will include patent-related protection, licensing, dispute resolution and policy work. You will work with engineers, product developers and other legal team members and will be responsible for managing outside counsel with respect to intellectual property matters.
Determine strategic areas for patenting.
Identify inventions that can be patented and conduct invention-disclosure meetings.
Prepare and prosecute patent applications and review patent applications and coordinate efforts with outside patent counsel.
Make foreign filing decisions.
Respond to notice letters and assist with patent litigation.
Evaluate and reply to potential acquisitions and licensing opportunities.
Generally educate engineers and product teams on patent issues.
Skills and Experience Necessary for the Role:
JD degree with a strong academic record.
State bar membership and eligibility to practice before the USPTO.
At least 3 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
Knowledge of computer science and electrical engineering.
Demonstrated experience in identifying patentable technologies, patent prosecution, licensing and handling of third party demands.
Strong interpersonal and team skills.
