Each month, 100 million people turn to the Internet to get healthier. Most are sick and need help. Healthline reaches nearly 10% of them today?and has a precious opportunity to engage and teach them what they need to know to get healthier. We need an Interaction Designer who believes s/he can dramatically improve the online health website, and give millions of people a better chance at health.
In this role, you will work closely with our product managers, editorial director, SEO manager, visual designers, and engineers in developing large-scale products that will help patients and caregivers with all their health needs.
Today, Healthline.com is one of the top-ranked sites in Google for health search queries. We have 12 million monthly unique visitors, and are growing rapidly (up 3X so far this year). are comfortable communicating (and debating!) your design ideas to a team
have a strong design aesthetic, yet adeptly tread the fine line between fun and functional
are an innovative designer who is willing to blow up traditional UI principles in search of something better
Work with product managers and the lead designer in defining the user interaction and experience of new products through wireframes, flow charts, sketches, prototypes, and visual comps.
Spot opportunities for innovation within your workflow while delivering design solutions that meet the objectives and goals of our products
Understand (and design for) the array of technical constraints, user goals, and business requirements that shape a project
Craft documentation to represent the user experience, including: user scenarios, screen concepts, detailed wireframes, flow diagrams, sitemaps, schematics, and prototypes
Assess existing sites/properties for usefulness, usability, and visual design
Build and continually evolve the usability of our products throughout the product lifecycle
Work with engineers to test and ensure delivery of a high-quality final product
Embrace techniques on how to work smarter?not just harder?while approaching your projects with an open-minded framework that is focused on creativity, innovation, and simplicity
Have the ability to bring calm, order, and elegance to complex usability problems.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelors or equivalent degree in Human Computer Interaction, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
3+ years? experience as a key member of a UI team for a highly regarded consumer website
Strong conceptual thinker, ability to understand the ?big picture? of the project and how it fits with the full consumer experience and business expectations
Must be passionate about user-centered design
Ability to craft beautiful, responsive designs using fluid grids, flexible images, and media query techniques
Must be proficient in the latest Adobe Creative Suite, and Omnni-Graffle
