Interactive Designer SmartPak

This position will be responsible for aiding in the front-end design, usability and development for SmartPak?s online identity. The Interactive Designer role will function as an important member of the Web Marketing Team and will support interactive projects that further the SmartPak mission. A key component of the Designer?s success will be in receiving constructive feedback on design concepts and executions, thus producing better designs with stronger results. The Designer will be responsible for ensuring the overall SEO visibility of their work, ensuring it?s coded to current standards and following best practices for web development. As a more seasoned member of the SmartPak team, the Designer must have a firm understanding of our demographics and what tactics are best suited for marketing to that audience.

Essential Job Functions:

Adhere to the brand, but simultaneously help to further where appropriate
Be responsible for front-end design, development, Q/A and deployment for assigned projects
Continuously seek to improve skill-set by learning from other teammates, staying hip to industry developments and noting conferences/seminars that can assist development
Assist with project conceptualization, helping to wireframe and comp flows for project specifications for both internal and external departments
Serve as a proactive agent in identifying design/process/technical flaws with any of the SmartPak sites and helping to postulate solutions
Assist in the production of our external advertising campaigns (both Flash units and animated GIFs)
Ensure every page posted meets coding guidelines and is completely optimized for Search Engine Optimization
Receive work assignments from Web Marketing Director based on current business needs, experience and particular strengths in marketing
Ability to manage web marketing projects as needed
Work within a set release process and schedule

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong portfolio of work
Refined capabilities as a designer with a strong understanding of Photoshop
Ability to convert design comps into HTML/CSS standards-based web pages
General proficiency with the entire Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with Flash animation, Jquery, SVN Programs

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
3+ years of professional interactive designer experience
2+ Relevant Web Marketing and/or E-commerce experience
Basic MS Office skills ? additional training may be available
Equine/Canine industry experience a plus
