About the Job

Based in Chandler, AZ, the Software - Grid Management business unit of Nexant is a major engineering and consulting group with a reputation for building cutting edge software solutions for our clients. We have an immediate need for a hands-on and talented QA Intern to join our team. The successful candidate will participate in assisting with the life cycle testing of energy market power system software. Areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to, interacting and understanding customer & market needs and assisting with the quality assurance testing of the corresponding software solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with developing test plans and detailed functional and usability test cases for each deliverable of the software and project implementation services
Support the development and maintain a repository of regression test cases
Assist in leading initiatives to automate testing and reduce test cycles and overall time to market
Plan and prioritize test efforts and resolution of defects based on tradeoff between severity of defect and change impact to committed release and delivery dates
Report test results to management team proactively
Track defects and verifying resolution
Work as part of a team which includes in-house software engineers and QA engineers on the day-to-day execution of quality assurance efforts to meet committed delivery dates
BS or pursuing a BS in Computer Science or similar field
Proficient knowledge or experience in Testing tools
Proficient knowledge or experience in engineering problem solving
Analytical with the ability to troubleshoot applications
Excellent communication skills in both written and oral forms
Ability to work well independently as well as cohesively in a team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required
