Responsibilities for this Position:
The International Traffic Specialist will be responsible for facilitating domestic and international shipments from company locations and a contract manufacturer, preparing export documentation, filing Electronic Export Information (EEI) records, obtaining and maintaining Carnets, and coordinating shipments with the freight forwarders. He/she will provide training to employees, assist in audits and compliance investigations, and maintain records of licenses, exports, and imports, as required by U.S. regulations. The International Traffic Specialist will report to a Manager who is not on location. The candidate must have strong self-initiative, discipline and organizational skills.
Day-to-day activities will include:
Preparing and maintaining copies of shipping and export documentation such as Air Waybills, Commercial invoices, AES filings, Shipper?s Letters of Instructions, etc.
Obtaining ATA Carnets electronically and maintaining Carnet records.
Coordinating exports and imports with carriers, freight forwarders and Customs brokers.
Reviewing and approving imports by our Customs broker, ensuring items are properly classified and entries are accurate.
Communicating status and information about shipments to Sales, Customer Service, and management, as required.
Develop and maintain cost control measures for freight, duty and associated logistics service.
Advise business unit regarding terms and conditions related to logistics, export and import.
Researching and resolving a variety of logistics and global trade issues.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in logistics management, facilitating shipments, including exports and imports. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of the Export Administration Regulations, Census, and Customs regulations. They must be detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and able to apply the above stated regulations in many different types of business transactions.
Candidates must be energetic and proactive to ensure timely and compliant results. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
