Duration
2 weeks - 16 weeks
Hours
This in an unpaid acadmeic internship. The estimated hours for this position are:
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00 pm
Hours are subject to change based on time of year and population of athletes in-house.
Overview
Our goal is to expose you to different philosophies and ideas and how they are integrated into our methodology and systems of training and nutrition. We want you to learn how to evaluate the athlete, understand fundamental needs of the athlete based on their goals and activity level and how to relay those needs to the team as well as to the athlete to really understand the integrated approach to athlete care. You will also spend time work with the culinary team putting the nutrition recommendations created into practice. Open your mind about all of the possibilities when working with athletes--think outside the box and forget the cookie cutter approach. As an intern you will learn shake bar and nutrition evaluation office maintenance, assisting the Performance Nutritionists as needed with various aspects of meal planning, education, research and much more.
You will have the added benefit of working with an organization that is solely dedicated to its athletes.
Requirements
At least 3rd year nutrition student
Computer Literate-Word and Excel
Excellent communications skills
Attention to Detail
Proactive
Fulfilling a curriculum/graduation requirement in Nutrition or related field
Must be ServSafe certified or have a Maricopa county food handlers card (can be obtained here: http://www.azfoodhandlers.com/)
