The Inventory Control and Transportation Manager is meticulous, well organized, driven, problem solver, a quick study, and a customer advocate who buys into the premise that inventory management is the heart of an operation. Overall accountability for all inventory transactions, inbound receipt tracking and timely discrepancy resolution. Review and analyze inventory KPIs on a continuous basis to ensure accuracy levels are met in conjunction with working directly with operational department heads to address operational and network compliance affecting their success. A leadership role in identifying and executing transportation logistics initiatives across SafeNet, including all affiliates within the AMER, EMEA and APAC, working with various departments and functions to ensure logistics operational efficiencies, reducing carrier freight cost, ensuring Routing Guide compliance - both domestic and international. A ?hands-on? leader possessing strategic skills to advance the department as well as tactical awareness to ensure daily operations is performed to expectations. This role is required to drive excellent execution in the areas of inventory accuracy, accountable for and ensuring 98% inventory accuracy for the Americas. Secondarily, the role is designed to ensure the company achieves consistent annual cost savings surrounding freight expenditures.

This role is responsible for overseeing inventory integrity for all SafeNet, with local direct responsibility within the Americas. Works directly with other department heads to ensure all operational processes maintains a high degree of inventory accuracy, working in an out sourced environment with manufacturing partners and 3PL. Manage the relationships with our ODM /DOF and 3PL partners as related to inventory management and controls, maintaining adherence to company policies and procedures, and compliance to government regulations. Design, develop and implement inventory control process and systemic tools to increase process efficiencies while maintaining high inventory accuracy levels, including consigned and VMI, data mining to uncover savings prospects and service improvements.
Provide transportation logistics support across the enterprise (domestic and international). Analyze and recommend carrier selection, negotiate rates/services with carrier management, and interface with internal shippers on the resolution of operational issues. Interface with functional management on program development, operational issues, and cost reduction - always cognizant of distribution network consequences, customer impact, and freight expense. Identify technical and innovative programs/solutions, in concert with ODM /DOF and 3PL partners.
This role is also responsible for partnering with a team of professionals who plan, perform and implement process improvement initiatives across operations for all SafeNet products. Additionally, will identify process gaps, provide detailed reports, and maintain Daily Management KPI related to freight costs, scrap, and inventory accuracy of all regional inventories. Manage applicable back office operations for SafeNet Americas.
Bachelor or the equivalent in combined education and professional experience required.
Minimum 5 years inventory management, consistently demonstrating successful inventory integrity.
4+ years experience in logistics/transportation/high-tech service industry. Fully outsourced a plus.
5-7 years in a fast-paced organization, technology or similar preferred.
Supervisory/management level position(s).
Success in implementing Lean methodologies and tools a plus.
Demonstrated ability establishing and maintaining work teams.
Oracle Enterprise Resource System experience is mandatory. WMS systems experience a plus.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Superior organizational skills; ability to set priorities, and maintain multiple initiatives.
Demonstrated understanding of lean principals in material control, 3PL, DOF and VMI.
Ability to identify and implement best practices and corrective actions where applicable.
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, high-tech, multi culture environments.
Solid critical thinking, analytical and structured problem solving skills.
Excellent oral/written communication skills. Technical writing skills a plus.
Ability to form strong team-based relationships, including across business units with internal customers.
Ability to travel, including internationally, for periods of 1- 2 weeks without returning home.
Computer proficiency, including the Microsoft Office suite, Oracle and other applications in WMS, and inventory management.
High energy level and high degree of self-motivation.
Lincense and Certifications:
Six Sigma, Lean, TPS training prefered
CPIM certification a plus
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Ensure material controls are in place and are precisely executed for SafeNet owned inventory within SafeNet Fulfillment Centers in the Americas, including execution by our third parties.
Execute inventory count adjustments and material movements for the Americas as required, after appropriate validation and approvals, in accordance with SOX, Finance and SafeNet standards.
Run periodic Manufacturing WIP Variance reports, detecting discrete job variances and material impact, work with Finance to correctly resolve, escalate to CIS for system evaluation and trouble resolution.
Full ownership for SafeNet Cycle Count and Physical Inventory activities. Validation of cycle count results, onsite supervision and ownership of yearend full physical inventory, variance reconciliation and support for Finance, timely/accurate inventory KPI and reports.
Hold our third parties accountable for meeting established goals and metrics related to inventory accuracy, validating their root cause and corrective actions to improve performance. Standardize third party reporting and roadblock escalation process.
Manage the SafeNet B-Class inventory, providing periodic reports on stock levels for use in Supply Chain E&O activities and RMA Support replenishment.
Foresee and mitigate issues. Evaluate all phases of material transactions and ensure defined systems and tools will guarantee successful inventory accuracy internally and at our third parties. Implement improvements to processes and systems to improve controls and results.
Provide Scrap Report validation for Americas, executing controlled and auditable inventory adjustments in accordance with SOX, Finance and SafeNet standards.
Manage carrier relationship with SafeNet preferred Freight Carrier. Responsible for periodic re-evaluation of agreements, leveraging products and discounts that provide the greatest advantage in cost savings and service level.
Audit SafeNet internal, supplier and third party compliance with the SafeNet Routing Guide. Provide reports and KPI related to savings and cost opportunities. Update Routing Guide as appropriate to clarify regional requirements or process / policy changes.
Thoroughly analyze and drive cost reductions and service improvements. Be aware of an ever-changing regulatory environment by staying current with industry events. Ensure compliance and safety pertaining to transportation and logistics operations.
Hold third parties accountable for compliance, securing proper language in MSA/SOW/SLA documents. Provide SafeNet signoff on CPAR corrective actions related to routing guide misuse.
Support key customer contracts, ensuring that freight obligations are met with while leveraging special contracts to gain improvement in pricing and delivery. Extend the contracts for service obligations for RMA and frequent Advanced Replacement entitlement.
Work with SafeNet Trade Compliance to ensure that carriers are working within appropriate standards and SafeNet product trade and transport guidelines.
Interface with SafeNet Distribution and Supply Chain management, across the enterprise on issues such as business placement, freight spend/budgets, distribution network optimization, operational efficiency, customer service, issue resolution, claims management, legal compliance, and in-transit security
Remain knowledgeable on Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials certification and International Air Transport Association (IATA) hazardous materials, providing SME as needed.
Recommend fulfillment policies and define processes and work instructions to ensure consistency, quality, Sarbanes Oxley, and Trade & Transportation compliance.
Ensure smooth, timely implementation of all new programs, processes, including material control / freight & transportation processes, policies and training of our third party service providers.
