iOS / Web Developer // (new jersey) Updated.io
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED I am looking for exceptional iOS and Web developers to join Updated.io. Our very disruptive mobile productivity application will be at the intersection of Mobile, SaaS, Enterprise, B2B and Productivity-- a very desirable space to be in. For this position, you MUST want to work full-time in Northern NJ-- no remote workers need apply. We are very early stage, and the sky's the limit. I am simply looking for the right small team to build out the solution and take it to market. I'm putting together a lean but brilliant 4-5 person team, including 2 developers, 1 UI/Ux designer, 1 marketer/growth-hacker, and myself.
Please do not simply submit your resume alone. You must include a cover note along with your resume, indicating why this opportunity appeals to you, and why you feel you might be a good fit for Updated.io.
What am I looking for in a developer? I need 2 innovative, talented, experienced, collaborative, communicative, fun, and knowledgeable iOS and/or Web developers who genuinely want to join a true startup... a very early stage startup with sky-high potential in one of the most desirable and lucrative spaces in tech right now: Mobile, SaaS, B2B, Enterprise, Productivity.
You must live in and want to work in the great state of New Jersey... specifically Northern Jersey. The office will be located near Montclair, NJ. I'm looking to build a very small, very talented, very productive and very FUN team that works together in the same physical location most, if not all, of the week... creating something highly disruptive, very useful and extremely lucrative for all of us.
Ideally you understand and have experience with both iOS AND web development, and have good knowledge and experience with back-end, front-end, devops, and the full-stack. However, if you are simply a brilliant iOS developer with no back-end experience, I'd still like to hear from you. I need 2 developers covering the full-stack competencies. You must be very collaborative in order to make this work. I'm sure you are.
What stage is the company at right now? I have spent months conducting customer development calls with potential users/customers. I have validated the pain in the market and my proposed solution has been received with unusual enthusiasm on these customer development calls. After validating the value proposition, I then hired the best UI/Ux designers I've ever met, and we are now finishing up a deep planning and discovery phase which will result in a complete FRD - with detailed workflows and wireframes and mockups and look/feel. So now I am looking to bring the project in-house with 2 developers to begin coding the MVP - which will take at least 3 months. We will then do a soft-launch to a couple hundred invite-only beta users and we'll incorporate their feedback for a month or two. Then when greater than 90% of these beta users are absolutely enthusiastic about the product, we will open the gates, and do a major PR, viral and facilitated word-of-mouth campaign to roll out the product.
At that point, once we have 100+ paying customers who are enthusiastic evangelists for our product, we will likely raise some angel and/or VC capital to scale quickly. Why wait? Many reasons, including... I have great seed funding now and a good budget set aside to get us to MVP/launch. I know what I want to build, how I want to build it, how I want to roll it out, and I want to stay lean and smart in building my team and developing the MVP. The company will be more valuable, and your equity will be more valuable, if we build the MVP and get initial market traction first, and then raise capital - if needed. Because the business model has a monetization-first approach, we may be able to fund more much quickly through revenue.
This is a business that sets out to monetize immediately after launching. There is a short free trial, followed by a monthly or annual subscription. This product will have real and immediate value in the enterprise market, and that value will warrant a paid subscription right after the initial free trial.
You should know this is my second startup. My first was a successful enterprise healthcare software company which I built up for the past 8 years. I am now launching Updated.io because I found a massive pain in the market that I know how to solve, and I love solving big problems with elegant software solutions that delight the user. Lastly, I am something of a productivity and efficiency geek... and have a passion for building software that can truly make users more efficient, productive and ultimately, happy.
I'm providing all this information so you have a better sense of my vision for the company now as you consider whether to apply for the open developer positions. There is NO more exciting company, product or vision out there right now. I just need 2 development all-stars and hopefully you are one of them.
I hope to hear from you. This is gonna be a LOT of fun for the right people.

Updated.io is a mobile-first solution that provides executives beautiful visibility into the status of everything important their people are working on. This will be highly disruptive, industry-agnostic, and is addressing a well-validated pain in a huge market. At the core is a gorgeous iPhone app and integrated responsive web application. No similar solution exists in the market today as it is a complete rethinking of the ways leaders communicate with their extended team. We are taking a serious hack at the information overload problem that executives, directors, managers, and CEO's face toda

|Company Profile:||Updated.io is a tech startup being built in Northern New Jersey. Our mission is to build
beautiful solutions and applications that solve difficult and painful problems for users in
Our first product, also called Updated.io, is a mobile-first solution that provides
executives with beautiful visibility into the status of the most important issues their
people are working on. In fact, at its core, Updated.io is foremost a simple mobile solution
for people that need to be UPDATED... by people that need to do the updating. And when you
think of it in that context, the larger potential market opportunity starts to come into
sharp focus - and it's substantial.
Our opportunity to do something completely revolutionary, to create something that will have
an impact across industries, companies, organizations, businesses and families is what is
most exciting about Updated.io. And in re-thinking how people get updated and thus
communicate with their extended teams, we are also solving the most important slice of the
Inbox Zero problem. Inbox Zero is shorthand for the inundation of emails that busy people
receive each day... hundreds and hundreds of emails. When executives - and others - are
deluged with information overload and email overload, it becomes somewhat unmanageable, a
great source of stress, and an impediment to otherwise incredibly productive people becoming
incredibly productive. We are offering a truly different, game-changing way for these busy
people to maintain their finger on the pulse of what their people are working on. In a fun,
delightful AND useful application.
If you are someone who thinks big, who wants to solve a huge, validated problem in the
market, and who is a uniquely talented iOS and/or web engineer, or UI designer, or marketer,
I would love to hear from you.
Updated.io simply needs a couple exceptional developers who live in and want to work in NJ
rather than NYC, and who want to create a truly transformational platform for productivity,
communication and efficiency. Something extremely fun to build, and more lucrative -
potentially - than any opportunity out there in the highly desirable mobile productivity
space. I am keeping things fairly under the radar right now, and listing the company only
where I absolutely have to in order to find great talent and people.
If you want to join Updated.io, then salary AND equity should both matter... alot. I don't
want mercenaries. I want highly creative thinkers and geniuses in engineering and product and
marketing and design who know how to communicate well and work well with other creatives.
It's a team effort, so you should truly enjoy working on a brilliant think-outside-the-box
team if you want to apply.|
