Primarily responsibility is the administration of the virtualization systems used by Engineering teams in various scales including, but not limited to, development, product and content testing. This role also builds necessary operating system and application environments as needed. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Plan and manage the use of the visualization products, mainly VMware products. This includes the planning for storage capacity and compute resources.
Administer VMware vCloud Director, vCenter and other VMware products by managing users, resources, storage, networks and virtual machines.
Maintain a baseline of required storage capacities and report to upper level the current utilizations compared to future needs based on usage history.
Review logs and alerts to determine root cause of issues, interface with local IT infrastructure and vendors to get issues resolved in a timely manner. Escalate to upper level as needed.
Research and identify best products and tools that would help get the most of the current systems as well as new products that would enhance the productivity.
Good knowledge of virtualization, VMware Workstation, vSphere, vCenter and vCloud director.
Understanding of Storage Array Network (SAN) systems, protocols and how they interact with virtual environments.
Ability to build and manage Microsoft Server and Client operating systems from Windows 2003 Server/Windows XP to present.
Ability to build Microsoft Server systems including, but not limited to, MS SQL, MS SCCM, SharePoint and Project servers
Basic understanding of how windows batch scripts work.
Good knowledge of virtual machines conversion between various systems.
Ability to learn know products and to adapt to changes.
Ability to communicate with various teams as well as higher management levels.
Knowledge of Linx/Unix/Solaris operating systems a plus.
Microsoft Sharepoint configuration and/or administration is a plus.
5+ years' experience in IT or software development field, with solid experience of various operating systems and applications administration.
1+ years? experience administering at least two VMware products, any combination of VMware Workstation, vSphere, Lab Manager, vCloud Director, and vCloud Automation Center
Knowledge of Microsoft Visio and SQL queries are desired, but not required
