To support our rapid growth, we are seeking talented, motivated IT Operations Engineers to join our office in Chicago. Primary responsibilities include managing customer environments, 24x7 rotating on-call response for critical response, release management, and building/assisting in general infrastructure growth and development providing innovative and leading edge solutions to our customers. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology/systems with a talented team.
Please Note: Aptitude testing is required for all positions
Doing 24x7x365 rotating on-call critical response on customer facing issues
Managing customer cases, including upgrading their environments to the latest release versions
Working closely with the development and support teams to provide top-notch support to our expanding customer base
Effectively communicating technical information to team members, management, and vendors
Supporting infrastructure systems (servers, switches, routers, Firewall and ASA) in co-located data centers
Adhering to IT/OPS processes and standards as laid down by company and team management
Supporting local internal users with desktop/laptop builds, troubleshooting, and support
Adhering to all BigMachines security policies, standards and procedures in the performance of job duties
Participating in security training provided by BigMachines
Reporting any potential security weakness, exposure or suspicious indications to manager
A minimum of a Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related software engineering discipline, or equivalent
1 or more years? professional experience in IT operations and/or systems administration
Strong knowledge/experience with Linux O/S and shell scripting
Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration 4/5
Good knowledge of internet protocols (e.g. SMTP, HTTP, DNS)
Knowledge of firewall, load balancing, and SSL
Excellent communication, quick study, and strong troubleshooting skills
Strong motivation to learn
Ability to establish work priorities and manage workload autonomously
Knowledge of database systems, including Oracle 10g and above, MySQL, etc. is a plus
Knowledge of web/application servers like Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, etc. is desirable but not must
Knowledge of Storage Management, Backup & Recovery is a plus
