Proofpoint, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to support our Operations department. Operations at Proofpoint involves managing the cloud-based infrastructure that supports our customer base both domestically and internationally. As our business grows, so does our need to expand our operations to more locations, to roll out new technologies, to quickly deploy new cloud-based applications, and to create solid processes to ensure a first-class customer experience. In the role of the Operations Project Manager, you will partner with a geographically dispersed team of highly regarded technical support professionals and engineers to help the company meet our growth and business objectives. Your role will include responsibility for owning project plans and schedules - creating, tracking, and driving technical project plans to completion (with clearly defined and attainable objectives and milestones). You will be empowered to drive technical planning sessions with the project team, technical staff members and engineers. The Operations Project Manager will also work with other cross-functional teams to create plans that have operational responsibilities, including support for product releases. The Operations Project Manager will be responsible for establishing and tracking project financials, quality, resources, and schedule.
Responsibilities include:
Work with the project team and technical staff to create detailed project plans and drive them to completion
Track and manage project dependencies, work progress, and resource allocation
Coordinate and facilitate regularly scheduled planning and review meetings
Ensure plans are aligned with resources, company objectives, and technical standards
Ensure plan objectives and milestones are clearly defined and attainable
Provide detailed weekly status reports
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Coordinate and facilitate issues escalated from the project team or other groups
Requirements:
5 years of overall industry experience, with 2-3 years of project management experience working in a technical environment (preferably in a Linux-based / cloud-computing operations environment)
Strong facilitation and communications skills, with experience working with remote teams
Attention to detail but an ability to understand the big picture view and understand when projects have conflicting objectives
Ability to manage change in a fast-paced environment
Ability to understand complex technical discussions and translate them into defined tasks
Possess a conceptual knowledge of servers/storage/networks/sys admin tools (including Linux, Puppet, monitoring, etc.) as well as general security concepts
Self-starter, must be able to work independently, highly motivated
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business or equivalent work experience
Ability to travel up to 5-10% of the time
