The IT Support Technician will perform support functions within a professional work environment. Work involves providing system administration support activities with software maintenance implementations, equipment deployment, new user set up, break/fix, security enhancements and support, and performance assessment and support functions. The IT Support Specialist will perform project management functions with assigned activities, and will provide day-to-day operational support. The IT Support Specialist will need to communicate both verbally and in writing with various project stakeholders, management, other relevant parties within the agency, the project status and risks as well as any outstanding issues and recommendations for resolving those issues which could not be resolved at the project team level. The IT Support Specialist will work under Technology Leadership and with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Must have 3-5 years of experience in a Help Desk position
Must have Windows 7, 8, Server 2003 and 2008 experience
Must have basic networking knowledge
Must have basic Microsoft Windows Active Directory (AD) knowledge
Must be an adept problem solver
Proficient at installing and configuring new hardware and software
Able to document system processes
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to analyze system logs and identify potential issues
Perform hands on technical support for end users
Familiarity with Symantec Backup Exec and VMware a plus.
