Description: Our ideal candidate for this position will be a skilled Systems Administrator and problem solver with experience in mixed Windows/Linux environment. Must demonstrate the ability to interact effectively and professionally with management, business customers, development teams and external vendors, to work both independently and with little management oversight, and have good written and oral communications skills. Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends as required to meet service objectives, systems availability requirements and project deadlines. Ability to quickly grasp, understand and use new technologies is also required.Major Responsibilities:
Build, maintain and operate enterprise class production application and database servers in a customer facing 24x7 environment
Setup hardware and software, test and apply patches, manage file systems and backups, monitor performance and troubleshoot problems
Ensure the consistency and integrity of file systems and backups
System failure analysis and recovery
Incident management including 24x7 on call rotation
Some (less than 10%) travel required
Requirements:
Exceptional knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux
Exceptional knowledge of Apache and an understanding of how they fit the J2EE model
Experience installing and managing Windows 2003/2008 and MS SQL Server 2005/2008
Experience with J2EE middleware setup and administration; Resin is a huge plus
Experience with VMWare
Familiarity with disaster recovery systems and storage architectures and concepts
Excellent Perl/php or other shell scripting skills
Excellent working knowledge of networks including VLAN's and VPN's
Ability to analyze and resolve complex and conflicting issues
Self-motivated, ability to operate independently
Strong written and oral communication skills
