IT System Administrator Eucalyptus Systems

The system administrator is responsible for implementation, maintenance, planning and management of production and development environments. This position involves the installation, upgrade, optimization of hardware, software, and services across a variety of platforms and applications. This individual must be self-motivated, operate well within a team-based environment, and be able to adapt quickly to new technologies. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years experience managing Linux systems and familiarity with virtualization platforms such as Xen, KVM and VMware.
Responsibilities
Responsible for implementation, maintenance, planning and management of production and development environments
Work together with Support, Development and QA engineers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues
Establish operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management
Production deployment planning, testing and verification
Assess utilization trends and make appropriate design and implementation recommendations to scale the architecture
Assist in the planning of all aspects of network and infrastructure related projects
Requirements
Effective written/verbal communication skills required
Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing environments; can configure and manage file systems and storage; understanding routing and firewall concepts
Experience using system monitoring tools such as Nagios and Cacti
Familiarity with various storage protocols and devices (SAN, iSCSI, DRBD, NFS, etc.)
Familiarity with scripting languages (bash, python, etc.)
Experience in using system automation tools such as Chef and Puppet
Experience with virtualization platforms (Xen, KVM, VMware)
Familiarity with system hardware specifications and requirements
5+ years experience with Linux administration and infrastructure, including DNS, SMTP, DHCP, RPM/Deb packaging, etc. (multi-distro experience desired)
