DescriptionIT Systems Engineer
The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the company?s IT infrastructure. The role is a mix of hands on, technical skills combined with project and vendor management skills. The IT Systems Engineer must successfully translate business needs into IT solutions that deliver applications and services to meet those needs. Although largely a back-end/server-side role, at HelioVolt the IT Systems Engineer has a great deal of management and end user interaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include at least the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
? Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's virtual environments and all related systems or software
? Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization?s server operating systems and all related systems, software and functionality
? Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization?s data storage and archival systems and all related systems, software and functionality
? Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization?s data network and all related systems, software and functionality
? Responsible for the management of the organization?s voice/telephone systems and all related systems, software, and functionality
? Responsible for the management of the organization?s systems and network management platform and all related systems, software, and functionality
? Secondary responsibility for the management of the organization?s desktop environment and all related systems, software, and functionality
? Secondary responsibility for the management of the organization?s SharePoint environment and all related systems, software, and functionality
? Responsible for backup or recovery procedures, performs system backups and recovery. At HelioVolt, data backup services are largely outsourced. The IT SE must manage the vendor.
? Systems Engineer acts as both point of escalation for Desktop Support and stand-in as required.
? Systems Engineer has primary responsibility for server components of Desktop Support systems. e.g. Microsoft WSUS server, Symantec EndPoint Protection serer, Help Desk server, etc.
? At HelioVolt, SharePoint administration is largely outsourced. The IT SE must manage the vendor
? Systems Engineer will act as point of contact for internal users and the external service provider.
? Performs a variety of tasks, operating with a great degree of latitude and professional responsibility
Qualification/requirements
? 5 years enterprise systems engineering and administration experience
? Experience with VMware vSphere 5; including: vSphere Server, ESXi hosts, virtual networking, vMotion, and guest creation/management
? Experience with all aspects of Windows Server 2008 including: Windows based DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, IIS, WSUS, and Terminal Server
? Experience with Windows Clustering
? Experience with iSCSI storage area networks
? Experience with at least one major data backup solution ? preferably Commvault Simpana
? Significant experience with a variety of layer 2 devices - Cisco Catalyst and Extreme Summit experience
? Experience with at least one major wireless networking solution
? Experience with at least one major firewall/VPN solution
? Experience with virtual networking in a VMware environment
? Experience with iSCSI SAN networking
? Experience with at least one major Network/Systems Management solution - Microsoft Operations Manager, SolarWinds Orion, Quest Foglight, etc
? Experience managing IT infrastructure from a holistic perspective
? Experience with at least one major antimalware solution
? SharePoint experience, equivalent to power user
? Professional level verbal, written, and presentation skills
? Demonstrable project management skills
Preferred Skills
? Experience with at least one enterprise Linux distribution
? Dell Compellent and Network Appliance experience
? Experience managing a voice system service provider
? Experience managing a VoIP based phone system
? Experience creating and implementing internal SLAs and metrics
? Experience with at least one major desktop management solution
? SharePoint administration experience
? PMP certification
? Familiarity with at least one major IT operations framework, e.g. ITIL, MOF
Education
? Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, or similar field
