Overview:
The Systems Engineer will support corporate and production environments. The Systems Engineer designs and coordinates complex production and corporate infrastructure system projects. Using system analysis will document and diagram system infrastructure. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and debugging the system environment and infrastructure problems found in the production and non-production environments. Will collaborate with other team members to plan the deployment of hardware and software in an effort to continuously improve the infrastructure processes.
Principal Responsibilities:
Coordinate production system development tasks to include design, integration and formal testing
Oversees all transitions into production ? from production infrastructure side
Test Systems before deployment into production.
Develop and complete actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements and other disciplines
Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution
Manage and document system configurations
Perform customer facing tasks including SSL certificate maintenance, firewall modifications, and FTP access.
Maintain public DNS for customer sites.
Monitor production systems and take corrective actions in a timely manner
The selected candidate will provide multi-tier support (1st, 2nd and 3rd level) and management for a 200+ user, 30+ server organization. End users and systems are both local and remote.
Install and configure server peripherals including network storage devices and server software, applications and packages.
Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include desktop PC?s, servers, network equipment, and software applications.
Analyze and identify server and network security issues; recommend and implement security measures and solutions.
Maintain server documentation and procedures and submit reports to management as required.
Monitor servers and network for abnormal performance, failures or unauthorized access and take required steps to minimize downtime or loss of data.
Schedule, verify, and maintain enterprise wide data backups for users and databases; restore lost or corrupted data and files as required.
Perform system administration for end user support including maintenance of user?s system accounts for all staff; update and maintain names, logins, passwords, access authorizations, shared directories, permissions and assigned systems.
Assist in the development, maintenance and enforcement of corporate standards across the company.
Position Requirements:
4-6 years work experience in the areas of network, server and pc support
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred
Several years experience with Windows Server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory
Strong background in Exchange messaging systems
Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with Cisco routers & switches, Internet firewalls, and wireless technologies
In depth knowledge and practical experience with Storage Area Networks
Solid background in Windows systems support across both desktops and laptops
Experience setting up and managing database systems such as SQL Server
Advanced hardware & software troubleshooting skills
Maintains quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently
Must possess above average organization skills, excellent communication skills, and can demonstrate problem solving skills
Considered an out of the box thinker and displays a willingness to learn
Ability to communicate with a wide range of users of varying technical ability
Experience in diagnosis and problem resolution for various Tape devices, preferred
Experience with server backup systems
Excellent organizational, documentation, communication and people skills are required
Travel requirements: currently 40% for next 6 months; ongoing 25% to 30%
