Summary: Questar Assessment, Inc. has a Java Developer position available at our corporate office in Apple Valley, MN. Questar Assessment, Inc. is a dynamic organization providing K-12 educational assessment solutions that deliver accurate information necessary to help students achieve their potential. Questar offers a suite of products that assess reading comprehension, writing skills, English language proficiency, and content area knowledge.
The Java Developer role drives the development or modification of K-12 Assessment Delivery system functionality in support of desired application functionality or accurate customer deliverables. This role prepares the application system environment for the business to operate. This individual will report to the Director of Online Delivery Systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
Interface with the IT Business Analyst in understanding the scope of delivery and/or business requirements for the application being developed
Design of program components to meet the business and functional requirements
Develop system functionality to meet the business and functional requirements
Unit testing of system functionality to confirm proper execution
Execute Questar?s coding standards
Conduct peer reviews of other developer?s work product
Document the build/promotion details required to promote new or changed objects via the Release Management Procedure.
Document application system changes to ensure accuracy of technical specifications
Populate organizational knowledge bases to capture lessons learned during development
Manage and repair logged bugs in the application systems
Provide support and enhancements for existing applications as well as develop new applications
Discover new technologies and techniques and adapt to dynamic business requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience
3-6 years? experience in design and implementation of Java Desktop/Swing and Web applications in Java 6/7
Expertise in HTML, JavaScript/JQuery, JSON, AJAX, CSS
Experience in creating and consuming Restful web services in Java/.NET
Knowledge of MS SQL Server, SQL, relational database concepts and programming
Experience using Eclipse with integrated source control like Subversion.
Ability to apply object-oriented design principles to create extensible, maintainable applications
Ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with JxBrowser technology and multiple environment target development (Windows, Mac and Linux)
Knowledge in N-Tier development, Framework Concept, Dependency Injection and Unit Test
Familiarity with agile development methodologies like Scrum and Continuous Integration
Experience with HTML 5, Tablet and Mobile (Android, iOS) development
Experience with Java EE technology and JNI
