Brazen Careerist is looking for a Software Developer to join our team. As part of a growing, fast-paced startup, you will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with our product management, user experience, marketing, events management software development specialists to help grow all of our existing products.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help develop the next generation Brazen virtual events platform using Java, GWT, Scala, Akka, MySQL and Cassandra
- Write code that enables users to create and manage events and that connects event participants during events
- Support our marketing and events management teams as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 1 year experience developing web applications with Java and relational databases
- Proven experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL
- Experience with Subversion or another version control system (e.g. Git, CVS)
- Familiarity writing unit tests with Junit
- Must be a self-starter and able to demonstrate experience learning new technologies and software engineering practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a startup or similar work environment
- Familiarity with agile development practices such a continuous integration and test-driven development
- Experience working on a Scrum team
- Knowledge of Object Relational Mapping (ORM) concepts and experience with Java Persistence API (JPA)
- Experience with GWT
- Experience with Maven (or Ant)
- Knowledge of non-relational (NoSQL) databases such as Cassandra or Riak
- Experience with the Scala programming language
- Experience with the Akka framework
