Vertafore is building game-changing software in Michigan and we are hiring Java software engineers that have a knack for solving problems and driving solutions. In our development environment, you will work on web-based enterprise applications using J2EE, open source technologies (Java, Spring, Struts, JDO, Web Services) and generally accepted design patterns. We?ll look for you to drive continuous improvement in our software and development process within an agile team.While our competitors are building solutions that solve yesterday?s problems, we?re looking for software Engineers to help us build solutions that truly change the way our customers do business. Our software will network the industry, from Fortune 500 companies to individual producers.
As a software development team member, you will be working on projects that allow you to concentrate on further developing your technical skills and immersing yourself in frameworks, the solution space, and development methodologies.
Initially, you will work on enhancing legacy products to conform with specific customer requirements, reducing defect backlogs, or fulfilling contractual obligations. Within the first 6-12 months, we will be looking for you to demonstrate a firm grasp of PLM technologies, familiarity with the product, and contribute to technical/product discussions.
Qualifications desired to impact our product and your success include:
At least two years of experience building web-based applications using J2EE or similar technologies in an agile development environment
Some knowledge of common frameworks (e.g. Spring, Struts) and ORM technologies (e.g. JDO, Hibernate). Hands-on experience with databases, SQL, data modeling, and reporting
Agility to pick up and apply new technologies and proactively ask questions and learn about our products
Adept with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication
Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
