Goodreads is seeking a talented JavaScript Engineer that has a deep knowledge of the javascript frameworks and libraries and a passion for great design and usability.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with our designers and development team to make Goodreads beautiful, easy to use, and fun.
Increase usability, drive user engagement, build new features
Code innovative and cutting edge web features and applications
Contribute to design and development of new cross-platform features
Write efficient, clean code using JavaScript, Backbone.js, Underscore.js, Ruby on Rails, jQuery, HTML, CSS, and more
Requirements:
Deep knowledge of current JavaScript techniques and best practices
Some experience with server side development using modern MVC frameworks
Experience architecting and implementing JavaScript-enabled features to work with a wide variety of browsers and devices
Knowledgeable and up-to-date with latest JavaScript and CSS libraries, trends, and browser capabilities
Excited about the possibilities of HTML5, including Web Workers, CSS3 transitions and animations, Web Sockets, and more
Experience with test driven development
A passion for great design and usability
Computer Science degree or equivalent
Experience architecting and developing single-page web applications is a plus
Experience writing independent and reusable node.js or JavaScript modules is a plus
Proficiency with front-end MVC frameworks such as backbone.js, Ember, or AngularJS is a plus
