Position Summary
This engineering position is responsible for Java development including graphical user interfaces and systems engineering on a semiconductor too, especially as it relates to printhead jetting technology. The engineer will design, develop, write, debug and maintain Java user interfaces, software interfaces, connection layers, and applications. The position will document code functionality internally with the code and externally to customers. The position will also measure and improve code quality through code testing and lightweight organizational procedures. The engineer will run experiments in a lab setting and help develop the next generation technology
Essential Functions
Design, develop, write, debug and maintain software drivers, hardware interfaces, and applications.
Understand customer driven requirements and translate into software designs.
Document code functionality internally with the code and externally to customers.
Measure and improve code quality through code testing and lightweight organizational procedures.
Investigate and recommend new software technologies and tools to streamline/improve development processes.
Document procedures for calibration and use of jetting systems for product release.
Recommend improvements for code infrastructure and architectural design.
Coordinate activities with manufacturing, applications, and other software and engineering groups as appropriate. Support these groups when needed.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering or equivalent work experience
Electrical Engineering degree is preferred. Masters degree is preferred.
Experience
At least 2 to 7 years programming and/or systems engineering experience.
Must be addicted to engineering excellence, adding real value and working efficiently and quickly. Must be motivated, fast, and precise, with excellent debugging skills.
Must be comfortable working in a UNIX/Linux environment with GNI tools.
Must be comfortable writing Java Swing application code.
Must have working knowledge of C++.
Must be familiar with scripting languages, Tcl/Tk is preferred.
Must have excellent verbal and written English skills. Must be able to communicate difficult problems efficiently and resolve conflicting goals.
Must be adaptable, team oriented, and must play well with others.
Agile programming techniques and unit testing experience is valuable.
Java web programming experience is not required.
