We are looking for a Data Wrangler who has spent at least three years on the Data Prairie to help reign in the expanding stream of Big Data from numerous input sources that will be instrumental in driving our On-Line Video business. We?re looking for highly-motivated individuals with the right skills to help us to manage, manipulate, massage and maximize the utility of our Big Data that is key to the success of the company. Note that we view this as a junior-level position and desire someone who can jump in and contribute, but who can also grow into the evolving role. Join us as we pursue the goal of facilitating the merger of television and on-line media into a consistent experience accessible across any connected device including desktop, tablets, mobile devices and more.Responsibilities
Work closely with a growing team of data scientists and software engineers to support data management across numerous projects in the Cloud and on-site
Assist in developing processes for handling extremely large data streams that are efficient and scalable
Design and implement collection strategies and work flows to enable large-scale experiments for Data Mining, Machine Learning, decision-making and visualization
Manage the lifecycle of Big Data from cradle to grave
Interface with data consumers to facilitate data access
Developing strategies for handling our large (100+ TB) and growing data pipelines
Requirements
Creative problem-solving is a must
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related fields, ideally with some significant coursework in Databases, Data Management, Data Science
Expertise in SQL ? MySQL a must, HiveQL a significant plus
Knowledge of database/query optimization
Familiarity with establishing Data Warehouses and Data Marts to support internal consumers
At least 3 years of programming experience in Java or Python
At least 2 years spent in the trenches with real Big Data a significant plus
Comfortable in Linux environment
Experience w/ Hadoop (previous hands-on work with Hive a major plus)
Strong communication skills
