Jr. Network/Desktop Support Engineer NovaSom
JOB SUMMARY:
The Network/Desktop Support Engineer (NDSE) is the primary computer and network user support person in the company. The NDSE installs, configures and maintains network devices including servers, workstations/laptops, printers, fax machines and network appliances. The NDSE also configures telephone system features and functions. The position requires a thorough understanding of workstations, servers, and other network peripherals as well as a fundamental understanding of fax and telephony administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following duties:
Install, configure, and maintain user hardware and software
Replace failed components of workstations and laptops
Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment and devices.
Perform server and services administration such as system back-up and restorations; file & folder retrievals, etc.
Perform troubleshooting of computer and network equipment.
Work with vendors when necessary to resolve problems
Configure telephone handsets; program feature keys
Support cell phone email synchronization with email server
Document network problems and resolutions for future reference
Manage user accounts and permissions (network, folders, email, printers, scanners, etc.)
Oversee network security.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Technical Skills and Requirements for Network Engineer
Minimum of 2 years of IT desktop support and network server and appliance support in a Windows environment
MCSE certification
Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Phone system administration
Strong analytical abilities
Detail oriented
Good communication and documentation skills
EDUCATION:
Associates Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology;
Bachelors degree in same preferred
