Position SummaryThe SQL Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, querying and managing data with MS SQL Server and MS Excel. You will receive large client data files and be expected to import those files into a database, perform data validation, transform the data, provide reports on the data, and produce exports for consumption by internal and external systems. You will regularly interface with data analysts on the client side as well as account managers on both sides.
Ideal candidates will have a background in IT Consulting, SQL programming and/or business consulting and be very comfortable in front of clients.
Major Functions
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Ability to ingest large data files and transform into meaningful, useable output to satisfy internal and client business requirements.
Ability to take vague or incomplete instruction and satisfy business requirements through interaction with the client.
Validate data against known business rules and learn enough about the industry and business so that you can also apply a ?common sense filter? to the data.
Help develop and implement measurement tactics to ensure all key data is tracked.
Setup and manage data feeds between internal and external systems.
Ability to generate meaningful, data-driven reports for client decision-makers
Work with the other members of project teams to ensure that client expectations are met.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Highly detail-oriented with exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong knowledge of Excel and other data management and manipulation tools.
HTML proficiency is a plus.
Constantly looks for ways to improve current internal processes and overall client experience.
Education/Experience
Bachelors Degree in computer science
One to three years experience in database modeling/querying/performance tuning in MS SQL Server 2005/2008 or equivalent language.
Consulting experience in a client-facing role preferred.
