Junior Linux Systems Administrator Zurka Interactive

As part of the Center for Computational Science at the US Naval Research Laboratory, you will be building web based applications at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC you'll be installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and tuning heterogeneous systems and complex networks which provide web services to NRL and the international community. It's a sharp, fun team doing challenging work supporting world class science and technology.Preferred candidates have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical field. Experience in a production environment is valued. Candidates should have knowledge of Linux and other Unix-based operating systems, in addition to experience with software compilation, installation, and script writing. The ability to work with a team and strong communication, organization, and documentation skills are essential for this opportunity.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education
- BS Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
Experience
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or derivatives (CentOS, Scientific Linux, etc.), Apache, and MySQL administration.
- Experience with VMware vSphere, Drupal, ColdFusion, Sybase.
Additional experience in/with the following is a plus
- JBOSS/Apache Tomcat application servers, Mac OS X, Cisco switches, fiber channel SAN storage, Samba, Nagios, LDAP, PostgreSQL, OpenNMS, Cacti, SNMP
Other Factors
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
