Flat World Knowledge is looking for a Junior Project Manager to assist the program manager in key elements of a long term development project to design and implement a web-based learning platform. Duration of the project is expected to be 18-24 months. Preferred candidates should be based in the greater-D.C. area, and can expect travel approximately 10-20% of the time.
The Junior Project Manager will be responsible for detailed documentation and planning, creating process flow charts, and putting schedules together. Key elements of the job include: excessive attention to detail, excellent communication skills (via email, phone as well as in person), ensuring quality control, and communicating with client and partner organizations. The ideal candidate should have experience working within the Project Management Institute?s project management methodology.
Assist Program Manager in managing project development from Initiation through Closing phases
Keep and communicate schedules, meeting notes and project schedules
Clearly communicate with clients, partners and stakeholders
Track and report on project milestones
Desired Skills & Experience
1-3 years relevant work experience
Familiarity with project management tools and software
PMI certification a plus
Flexible, adaptive and responsive to project changes
Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills
Able to utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools
Able to quickly learn company technology
Familiar with industry standards
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience in education, preferably with the application of technology to pedagogy
Experience with agile development and methodology
Is experienced in managing relationships with multiple vendors and departments
Experience in developing web-based learning tools
Attention to detail
Curriculum and course development
Ability to work independently or on a team
