ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The Junior Software Localization Engineer is responsible for all facets of localization including but not limited to project preparation, localization production, issue resolution, and project delivery for small to medium software, online help or multi-media projects to meet client specifications. The Junior SWL must have attention to detail and the ability to create and adapt.
Major responsibilities will include:
? Preparation, Analysis, and Post-processing of files for localization
? Set up and maintain file structure for localization
? Set up and use localization tools
? Manage Translation Memory setup and standards for each client
? Communicate to project managers the processes associated with technology and tools.
? Manage files using version control systems
? Track defects
? Fix defects
? Provide technical support for localization projects
? Troubleshoot -- Solution of problems that arise in engineering process (builds, tools or processes that do not work).
? Compile and improve localized product until it meets quality standards
? Verification of localized product for publication or production
? Delivery of localized product for publication or production
? Responsible for assuring that localized product retain the same design, appearance and functionality as the original source product and in accordance with client specifications
? Determine counts of files, words and numbers of Graphics in the files
? Edits graphics and grabs screens within established quality standards and budgeted hours
? Capture/Edit screenshots, video/audio to replace original elements in the source material
? Test; compile engineering components before localization to ensure compilation works correctly
? Participate in the improvement of the Engineering process.
? Provide training and support to the production team on the localization tools used.
? Report problems and status
? Communicate with the Global Production Manager for status reports and issues in team. Reporting should be accurate, should be proactive, and on a timely basis
? Meet with clients as required by project manager (Project status, problem solving, kick-offs, post project reviews etc.)

EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
? College degree in related area and/or related experience in language or software localization.
? One year of experience in localization
? Must have experience in any of the following:
o .Net o Trados
o Java o Catalyst
o Perl o Macromedia Flash
o Visual C++ o VBA
? Sound knowledge of the software development process and cycle
? Strong knowledge of the Office System applications
? Technical orientation
? Good organization, prioritization and time management skills
? Understanding of programming/scripting languages and concepts
? Able to function in a multi-task environment
? Able to delegate work loads
? Team Player
? Excellent interpersonal skills in a culturally diverse environment
? Able to clearly communicate detailed information both verbally and in a well written document
? Appropriate testing skills, both functional and localization testing
? Able to understand and troubleshoot software development build environments

? Understanding of markup languages such as HTML and XML
? Able to create/maintain RDBMS systems using Microsoft SQL or MySQL.
