The Junior Systems Engineer candidate must have at least 4 years of practical IT experience, with relevant experience implementing storage & data management solutions and have practical exposure to storage and data management products, including HDS, EMC, Cisco, Brocade, Qlogic, and IBM Intel based servers & storage, SAN and NAS technologies.
Responsibilities:
? This position will be working under the direction of a Systems and Storage Practice Manager, but will be expected to prioritize and perform research on technical problems with minimal guidance.
? It will also be required to perform design and implementation of server and storage solutions with minimal guidance.
? Ability to effectively work on and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
? Self-motivation and team-player attitude.
? Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies and paradigms.
? Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
? Minimal travel throughout the US will be required (Boston, New York, etc.).
? This position requires that you have a valid driver?s license.
? After hours on-call availability may be required.
Qualifications:
? 4+ years of hands-on design and implementation experience working with relevant technologies.
? Formal technical degree or equivalent in an IT/Computer-related subject is required.
? Strong experience in Storage technologies and products from HDS and EMC.
? Strong experience in SAN and NAS technologies. Certifications are a major plus.
? Strong experience in VERITAS backup and data protection products. Knowledge of Legato products is a plus. Certifications are a big plus.
? Experience as a power-user of one of the following: Linux, Windows, or Solaris.
? Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
? Excellent oral and written communication skills
? Strong knowledge of OS fundamentals for UNIX and Microsoft platforms
? Hands-on knowledge of x86 hardware.
? Knowledge of automated tape libraries.
? Knowledge of SUN and IBM Storage is a plus.
