Job Responsibilities:
Use robotic pipettors to produce and maintain store of multi-well plates used for calibration and final test of Labcyte liquid handling systems
Validate accuracy and precision of plates
Package and ship plates for field calibration and verification of Labcyte liquid handling systems
Quantitatively make up standard (control) solutions in multi-liter volumes
Keep an inventory of these solutions and schedule to keep up with demand
Qualify these solutions via fluorescence assay in microtiter plate format; use single-channel and multichannel pipettors
Make, validate and troubleshoot standard curves using these standard solutions
Quantitatively validate microtiter plate readers and pipettors used in these processes
Exercise diligence and good technique so that solutions and plates do not become degraded, contaminated or mislabeled
Troubleshoot any/all of these processes as required
Validate samples of new plate lots
Keep records of results in good order for later troubleshooting and verification
Other related tasks as required
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in a life science (two-year certificate in Biotech or Chemistry will be considered with sufficient work experience)
Quantitative skills are essential; Biochemistry lab course required, and successful completion of Analytical Chemistry lab course strongly desired
Experience with single and multichannel pipettors; must be able to pipet quickly and accurately
Experience with robotic pipetting equipment and fluorescence plate readers
Proficiency with Excel and ability to create spreadsheet statistical analysis independently
Consistent and complete recordkeeping
Ability and willingness to report mistakes and problems promptly and clearly
Desirable:
Work experience in assay development and/or high throughput screening environment strongly favored
Ability to write simple Excel macros a plus
Experience with robotic fluid handling equipment
Previous experience in a quality control position
Previous lab work with blood products a plus
Experience with inventory control, materials-related functions and purchase requisitions.
Familiarity with personal, lab and chemical safety.
