Summary
The Landman is responsible for the acquisition, drilling, development, operation and maintenance of the assets of an oil and gas company. The job requires knowledge of surface, lease and mineral titles, how such ownership is derived and transferred, and the legal effects of these transactions. The Landman is also responsible for project planning and economic forecasting and evaluation, along with geologists, engineers and other professionals. The Landman must also possess considerable specific legal knowledge and orchestrate coordination with legal, governmental and regulatory authorities at the local, state and national level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Buying leases, securing documentation of valid title and supervising other Land professional and attorneys in such acquisitions.
Evaluating the economics of wells, deals, prospects and entire companies.
Making presentations to financial partners, industry partners, banks and other institutions both to raise money and facilitate energy development consistent with the goals of the company.
Direct supervision of many activities of field Landmen and company Land professionals.
Developing business relationships with industry partners to advance future deals and cooperative development.
Managing and coordinating all aspects of drilling, development and operation of a company's assets from obtaining surface access to maintaining lease and contract validity.
Managing various legal relationships and challenges and coordinating company responses to any matters which may affect the value of the assets.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Land Management, or other business-related field, with emphasis on the metrics of value creation in the energy development field. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience, demonstrate inclination and experience in solving numerical problems. Have broad experience over different specific tasks and geographical areas. Have specific detailed knowledge of various documents used in acquiring, planning, drilling and development of energy assets, such as Leases, Joint Operating Agreements, Farmout Agreements, Joint Development Agreements and Partnership Agreements.
Language Skills:
Good communication and presentation skills. Good negotiating and people skills.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other presentation software. Proficiency with map reading and map presentations.
