Laser Product Development Engineer NP Photonics
Level: Director / Manager (DOE)

Reports To: VP Engineering
SUMMARY:
The primary duty for this position is to take a leading role in a fast-paced, fiber-laser product development
program. The program will leverage NP?s core technology and will result in a high-growth family of
products. The development will be done in close collaboration with strategic customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Key liaison with strategic customers
? Develops and owns the schedule for the product development process
? Drives development activities in a multi-functional team to meet schedule targets
? Participates in hands-on development activities
? Documents and presents activities in accordance with best practice
? Designs and builds prototypes and pilot units to demonstrate required performance.
? Manages the transfer of the product into manufacturing
? Work with other functions of the company to communicate needs (budget, manpower,
instrumentation) and results (technical reviews,).
? As a program leader he/she gives guidance to people on the team and directs their work regarding the
project.
Other duties may be assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
? PhD or equivalent experience in relevant subject (Physics, Optics)
? >5 yrs of related experience
? Currently eligible to work in the US (permanent resident)
? Experience in laser product development
? Understanding of product development gated review process
? Understanding of developing a manufacturable product
? Expert in laser design and development including thermal management
? Excellent communication skills with collaborative spirit
? Excellent documentation practices
? Self starter and hands-on lab skills
? Experience with CW, Q-Switched and/or ultrafast fiber lasers strongly preferred
? Fluent written and spoken English,
? Understanding of interferometric sensing applications is a plus
? Knowledge of LabView programming is a plus
