POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Business Consultant is responsible for the successful technical implementation and delivery of the Datacert BI solution and its associated customizations. This position will also be responsible for the technical delivery all of the custom reporting needs that a customer may have and more importantly set the technical standards and best practices for implementing such reporting solutions across the entire Customer Operations Organization. This position will interface with Product Management on data model needs to meet customer expectations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Become the technical Subject Matter Expert for all of the BI/Reporting functionality offered by Datacert?s products
Understand the bigger picture of a customer?s reporting needs using business intelligence/Reporting to design custom views and query subjects to more efficiently meet their needs and to provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering on data model enhancements
Work with the business analysts and the customers to develop technical specifications for reports and document in a standard format
Make essential recommendations on the technical best practices and suitable layouts and UI controls for reports
Identify the technical direction for the development of reports keeping usability, security and data integrity
Build and maintain a library of common customized report templates requested by customers to speed up development and deployment. Provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering to incorporate findings into future product releases.
Develop, debug and test reports and custom views developed for current and legacy products
Help troubleshoot and resolve issues with reports by providing direction and support to PSG teams and Corporate Support
Set the strategy for testing Reports with the internal development and quality teams.
Mentor the team of developers both state side and off shore to follow the set guidelines for development of reports and dashboards
Review the work performed for each implementation to ensure technical t quality and meeting of the customer requirements
Set the standards for report packaging and develop best practices for report deployments
Assist with creation of Insight Reporting training material and training curriculum.
Work with our Partners to educate them on reporting solution development
Additional Responsibilities:
Work with the external vendor IBM for any Congos Related issues or bugs via support from Engineering
Comply with all company policies
Participate as the PSG Reporting/BI SME and Release Foreman for product releases.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
Masters degree required, preferably in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field
IBM Cognos Training Cerficiation Preferred but not a must.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in a full life software development
Minimum 5 years of experience using .net and Java and any other programming languages
Minimum 5 years of experience in Object Oriented Design Principles
Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership position
Minimum 5 years of experience in writing reports including complex cross tab and dashboard type reports
Minimum 5 years of experience in applying customizations to enterprise software and Business intelligence
Experience with Data Modelling using Cognos and/or other reporting software
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Good relational database understanding and implementation of relationships
A deep understanding of the intricate details of the Cognos Customizations using the SDK
A deep understanding of the Cognos Administration Capabilities
A deep understanding of the Cognos Security Model and its relationship to the Datacert products
Exposure to automation testing tools
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Team player who takes complete ownership and accountability of the solution being delivered to the customer
Works well with little supervision
Ability to mentor a team of developers and QA Analysts
Ability to train internal development and business teams on reporting functionality offerings and best practices for design, development and deployment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OR INFORMATION
Ability to Travel to customers and off site development locations up to 50%
