Undertone is seeking a Data Scientist/Analyst who is responsible for analyzing, managing and executing highly complex statistical and data mining techniques to provide insights in audience intelligence data.
This individual will identify opportunities to apply statistical methods within the business, design statistical and analytical solutions and lead the development and implementation of those solutions. They will play a crucial role in advancing Undertone?s advertising and data platform, helping to design audience targeting solutions as well as working hands-on, deep in the data. They will partner with other members of the business including software engineering to scope, design and deliver high-visibility quantitative projects. Other responsibilities include advancing the statistical capabilities of the business through development of statistical capabilities, and incorporation of research into usable solutions.

They are a self-starter, problem-solver, strong writer, and creative thinker who enjoys working in a fast-paced, growth environment and is never satisfied with mediocre work or missed opportunities.
We are looking for someone that can:
? Develop statistical, mathematical and predictive modelling as well as business strategy understanding to build the algorithms
? Provide insightful analyses to solve key business problems using advanced statistics and data mining techniques to reduce risk and focus investment more efficiently.
? Derive appropriate action recommendations and work in partnership with the business to ensure implementation.
? Stay abreast of ?best in class? analytic (forecasting/modeling) intelligence (market/competitor) and information / knowledge management systems.
? Apply statistical theory and techniques to the analysis of digital media data
? Communicate and document statistical analyses and methods in a logical and understandable manner for internal and external audiences
? Manipulate and analyze complex high volume data sets in a distributed environment
Skills you will need to be successful in this role:
? Master?s Degree or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics or related discipline required.
? Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in model development, statistical methodologies and quantitative analyses within advertising and marketing industry.
? Experience with audience segmentation and targeting for digital advertising/marketing purposes
Experience with statistical software such as R, SAS, or SPSS programming languages such as Python, R, Java, Ruby, Pig or SQL
Understanding of Hadoop, Hive and/or MapReduce
Natural Language Processing: the interactions between computers and humans;
Machine learning: using computers to improve as well as develop algorithms;
Conceptual modelling: to be able to share and articulate modelling;
Statistical analysis: to understand and work around possible limitations in models;
Predictive modelling: most of the big data problems are towards being able to predict future outcomes;
Hypothesis testing: being able to develop hypothesis and test them with careful experiments.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong understanding of customer and market requirements.
The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate the ability to work independently as part of a team that makes use of an iterative approach. The candidate must thrive in a rapidly changing environment and take initiative to ensure that projects succeed. This role is driven by data processing within an ever changing landscape that involves working with scaling systems.
