Lead Process Engineer Microchip Biotechnologies

Education Required:
Bachelor degree in chemical or materials engineering. Advanced degree highly desirable.
Experience Required:
? Minimum of 6 years of experience
? Minimum of 4 years of microfab clean room experience
? Ability to perform statistical analysis and statistical process control
? Experience with the design and manufacture of plastic molded parts
? Complete understanding of the PDP cycle, phases and requirements
? Experience in presenting technical materials in written and verbal form
Primary Role:
? Responsible for developing, characterizing and improving consumables fabrication processes in the microfabrication facility.
? Ensure that processes are in control by identifying, evaluating, and manipulating key variables.
? Monitor and improve yields, establish control logs and train operators and other personnel as needed.
? Work with vendors to maintain equipment.
? Ensure safety, chemicals and waste compliance with governmental regulatory organizations.
? Develop, qualify and document new processes.
? Plan and schedule projects in a manner consistent with corporate objectives.
? Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent application. Identify and qualify outside vendors and consultants as required.
? Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies including design, manufacturing, and materials developments as related to company products.
? Conduct testing utilizing existing test protocols or create new ones as needed. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely design history documentation, including testing methods.

Primary Responsibilities:
? Continuously improve consumables fabrication and QA processes, yields, and throughput
? Develop new processes and capabilities
? Ensure safety, chemicals and waste compliance with governmental regulatory organizations
? Ensure functioning of fabrication equipment, working with outside vendors
? Work closely with system integration, R&D and operations customers
? Interact frequently with scientists and other research personnel to determine project requirements, goals, schedules and cost targets
? Apply knowledge of scientific principles to translate life science processes into engineering objectives
? Use verbal and written communication to create and maintain a design history of each project
? Perform technical activities leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products, processes or technologies which are of major importance to a project.
? Present and publish work internally and externally where appropriate
? Exercise judgment In selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution
? Work only under very general direction
? Participate in determining objectives of assignments. Independently plans work and determines and develops approach to solutions
? Receive technical guidance as necessary
Secondary Responsibilities:
? Ensure that wafer fab personnel follow proper procedures and carry out training if necessary
? Potentially supervise wafer fab personnel as needed
? Support the development of new documents for MPI?s, QI?s SOPs, WI, training
? Participate on product or project core teams as required
? Maintain and enhance technical knowledge on company product lines through participation at in-house training programs, as well as self-study by reading trade Journals, manuals and books
? Assist in defining the raw material definitions and specifications
? Assist in the qualification of suppliers
? Using methods and facilities that are supplied, recommended and/or required by IntegenX, maintains an organized database of all analysis and design output, including but not limited to 3D model, assembly and drawing files, test plans and reports, research records of components, materials and processes, and transcripts of oral and written communications with suppliers, consultants and collaborators
? Analyzes and solves complex problems using creative and effective techniques or processes
? Performs product and process verification test plans with expected results to match CRD
? Performs process and product verification tests for reliability, robustness and stability
? Fully comprehends engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques
? Continues to develop expertise in areas of specialization
? Utilizes knowledge of business goals and broad understanding of industry activities and technologies to complete tasks
? Develops a working knowledge of internal functions
Job Skills:
? Ability to apply engineering principles using logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
? Fluent use of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Some familiarity with other software such as Visio, MathCad, etc. is desirable.
? Strong written and verbal English communications skills are required.
? Ability to present project design reviews, test reports and research results to internal and external audiences
? Ability to comprehend an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form
Job Knowledge:
? Plastic molding and complex assembly of plastic components
? Technical knowledge of molecular and biochemistry interaction with plastics
