Fresh off of winning NBC's $75,000 Innovation Challenge, and funded by top-tier investors, we're hiring a full-stack engineer to run our technical show, pioneering new assessment types that fundamentally alter the way kids learn.
Technical Challenges We Think About
- How we can build novel, scalable, cross-platform compatible question types that engage kids in authentic ways? This is a deep problem with huge implications for online testing, and we have the opportunity to blow this wide open.
- How to best leverage our huge (and growing) unique data set -- millions of naturally occurring student writing errors -- using it to revolutionize future learning outcomes for others?
This could be a good fit for you if you're entrepreneurial, passionate about disrupting education, very smart, and looking for a pivotal leadership role on a small team. Skills & Requirements
- You're very smart, you dream big, and you want to be in charge of something huge
- You have experience supporting an entire stack w/ modern web frameworks (Rails/Django)
- You're an expert in Ruby, Javascript, Linux and MySQL
- You design with OOP, SOLID, MVC and REST in mind
- You test at the unit, functional and integration level
- You can be your own DBA (setup, optimization and troubleshooting)
- You actively track new languages and technologies, and you love Macs
- You're famiiar w/ Git, CSS, HTML, JQuery, CoffeeScript, Backbone.js & Rackspace Cloud/AWS
- You're entrepreneurial. You want to leverage cool technology to change children's lives. You want in early at a startup that's surging. You want to win.
